Lent Challenge

I have not given something up for Lent for years - since I was a kid. This year it has become important again. I have decided to give up two things. I was going to give up chocolate, but because I don't eat much chocolate it would really have been a bit of a furfie! Instead I've decided to give up something for myself, and something for the world.

For myself: Ice cream (this includes my favourite WW cookies and cream ice cream!!)
For the world: Buying coffee. Every time I would have bought coffee (every day at work for starters) I will put aside the money I would have spent and at the end of Lent, I will donate that money to the Missionaries of Charity.

My aunt Susan (Sr Maximillian) belongs to the order of the Missionaries of Charity. She is currently living in Kenya working amongst the poorest of the poor. She is an amazing woman, who always has time to take with her nieces and nephews - she has been very special to us!

For those of you who don't know - Lent is the 40 days before Easter that Jesus was tested in the desert. Shrove Tuesday (what is now called *shudder* "pancake day") is the day before Lent - you're meant to have pancakes to get rid of all your eggs, milk and flour which was traditionally what you didn't have in Lent. For us as kids, it was lollies that we gave up!
